Inside a brothel bedroom a tragic scene takes place: stylishly-dressed man falls dying from wounds in his chest as a barefoot young woman in nightclothes kneels and clasps her hands before him. Another man in nightshirt and cap crawls out the window, while two men, followed by others, enter by the door. On the floor are pieces of clothing, costumes, masks, a piece of paper reading "The Bagnio", a key, one sword lying down and one stuck upright in the floor. On the wall are paintings: St. Luke and the ox, his attribute; a prostitute dressed as an aristocrat and holding a squirrel in one hand and parasol in the other. A tapestry showing the judgment of Solomon fills the rest of the wall; a portion is coming off the upper wall at the right. The canopied bed's sheets are in disarray. Other furniture include two heavy drop-leaf tables , several chairs and an overturned stool/Table (?). (Virginia K. Anderson 02/21/95)
