Printer, etcher, engraver; born in London on 10/13/1903; Prix de Rome, 1928 William Evan Charles Morgan trained at the Slade under Henry Tonks. Morgan won the Prix de Rome in engraving in 1924, ahead of finalists including Graham Sutherland. William E. C. Morgan became one of the foremost engravers of the 1920s, but was forced to give up engraving in the 30s due to failing eyesight. Much of his work is on copper, but Morgan also made wood engravings.
