Born in Tokyo. Studied woodcut under Un'ichi Hiratsuka in 1947, intaglio under Jun'ichiro Sekino in 1950. Member of Japan Print Society and Japan Copper Plate Artists Association. Among Miyashita's innovations were the use of wire soldered on to the plate in order to achieve a hard contour line and the development of his own type of handmade paper.
