Twined storage basket. In brown, three series of step motifs with alternating brown and white lines through center of each series. Three humanoid figures near rim. Light brown border.

LABEL TEXT:

The globular form with the slightly curved rim is a characteristc feature of Atsugewi baskets and protects the contents of the basket. Figural designs of small people were introduced in the 1890's, late in terms of the long history of basketmaking.
