Bequest of Thomas G. Fowler

Three pronged bird or fish spear in excellent condition. The spear point is made of walrus ivory and one of the three side prongs is also of ivory while the remaining two are rendered in bone. This type of spear would have been used with a throwing board or stick, although the notched end of the spear is missing. NOTE: The spear point is labeled “Sealing Harpoon--Esquimaux” and was probably in a European museum collection.
