-The kawang (dot) motif is an old design used by court dancers; however, the dots are too sloppy and would not be acceptable in the court.--Itie van Hout 7/2004
-Tjanting batik-Kawung pattern characterized by metrically placed oval shapes. In between each large motif is a small oval shape and an alternating floral like motif. Brown and cream comprise the color scheme.

-The kawang motif is a old or traditional motif. It is symbolic of the two worlds; the micro cosmos (human) and the marco cosmos (world.)--Mspuspitasari Wibisord (?)
