The Royal Society
The Royal Society is a Fellowship of namy of the most eminent scientists of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealty, together with members from other countriues, sepcializing in all areas of science, engineering and medicine. It now has about 1,450 fellows and foreign members. It was founded in London on November 28, 1660 by Christopher Wren and others to discuss natural pholosophy, as science was described then. Its first Curator of Experiments was Robert Hooke. It is now is the UK academy of science promoting the natural and applied sciences, a learned society, and a funding agency for scientific research.
