desk is veneered with an overall wooden marquetry of flowers ands foliage scrolls on an ebony background witnin narrow rectangular bands ofpewter and brass marquetry of leaves, the top marqetry fetures also a vase of flowers pecked by a bird within cornucopiae, straps shells and masks, the sides only with a vase of flowers pecked b a bird, the hinged top opens in the center to reveal three small drawers, the top long drawer, simulating three drawers, is transformed into a writing board when opened, the lower part with four side drawers and two others in the downswept centre; the keyholes are surrounded with fine chiselled gilt bronze pattern of flowers in a vase; the desk rests on eight gilt wood legs in the shape of a cherub terms carved with foliage ending in gilt wood bun feet linked by a marquetry stretcher
