A woman and a man sit facing each other across a kitchen table. A few dishes and a coffee pot are scattered across the tablecloth. Leaning on her elbows and smoking a cigarette, the woman gazes impassively at her counterpart who leans on one elbow and gazes down with lips pursed. She sits on a fringed cushion on a wooden chair. He sits on a box or square stool. There is a small framed picture above the man's head. Partially cropped, the picture seems to represent a figure walking. Between the couple and behind the table is a window with curtains drawn not quite completely across it. Between the couple and in front of the table, on a cube pedestal is a frying pan.
