A man slouches on a simple wooden chair, his back turned toward the viewer. The legs of the chair are short, though the chair is not a child's seat. The man is dressed with simplicity--white shirt, dark pants, socks and leather shoes that seem oversized. His legs and arms are crossed. He turns his head slightly towards us. Eye downcast, hand limp, and feet positioned aimlessly, the man personifies the depression for which this print is named. (Monica Jensen 02/09/93)
