A Chinese artist (Chee Chin Lee) working on an ink drawing of a flower is the major focus of this print. The man, with dark vest and bow tie, is intent upon his work. He holds a thin ink brush rigidly upright between thumb and forefinger, using his left hand to prop his (right) brush arm. At his elbow is a small bowl and a box of brushes or pencils. Working on an easel in the background is a woman. Her hair in a bun and horn-rimmed glasses on her face, she concentrates upon a figure drawing. Various tools of art-making lie about an otherwise spare room--paintbrushes soaking in glasses, completed figure drawings, blot rags, and a wastebasket. (Monica Jensen 02/09/93)
