Oak Park, Ill.
Alice Standish Buell was born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1892. She lived and worked in White Plains, New York and Woodstock, Vermont. She received her AB from Oberlin College, and studied at Art Students League and under Martin Lewis. She exhibited her work at the Society of American Graphic Artists, Southern States Art League where she won a prize in 1931, Philadelphia Print Club where she won a prize in 1939, Society of American Etchers, Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design, and Salons of America, among many others. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, Dartmouth College, University of Wisconsin, Montclair Art Museum, and Art Students League.
