Outside an adobe-like church building with belltower is a scene of departure: man in colorful peasant garb holds the reins of a laden donkey and leans forward to light his cigar . Offering the flame is a heavy man seated on a stone bench; he is dressed in long black gown and white cape and hood; a black brimmed hat covers his head. A boy of eight or so sits on the ground watching; he wears a white cloth around his head and dark short pants; his white shirt barely covers one arm. Artifacts include a rifle attached to one of the packs on the donkey, a primitive broom on the ground by the boy, and a clay jug on the bench. (Virginia K. Anderson 02/27/95)
