A Biblical scene: Christ at Emmaus: Christ and three others are at a cloth-covered table. Christ is dressed most simply, in brown robe and shawl, with a bit of reddish color in an undergarment and a sash. He holds a loaf of bread. Two men are seated, with wrapped headdresses and green and red garments of varying designs and fabrics. A small black boy offers up a bowl, and a well-dressed woman stands watchfully behind him, perhaps acting as the hostess. Her head is covered with a white cloth, but she also has a reddish headdress under it, with a beaded edging. She wears yellow-colored beads.. (Virginia K. Anderson 02/27/95)
