Graphic artist and painter who embodied the Roaring Twenties. Sold his first cartoon to Life Magazine in 1904. Employed by Colier's agency in 1910, moved to New York. Became known in the twenties for his 'flapper' art which appeared regularly in the New Yorker and on numerous magazine covers. Financial reverses during the Depression coincided with the downturn of his career as tastes changed.
