Saint Paul de Vence
Painter and tapestry designer. Trained with Victor Prouve in Nancy, then the Academie Colarossi, Paris. Known as a painter and decorator by the twenties, but best known for his association with the renaissance of the Aubusson industry after WWII. His 10 tapestry series, Le Chant du Monde, was shown at the Legion of Honor in 1988, and is now installed in the Jean Lurcat Museum in Angers, France. Largely credited with the resurgence of tapestry in the 20th century. Mark Adams studied tapestry technique with Lurcat.
