Gift of Archer M. Huntington

Serene portrait of Maria Anne Fitzherbert sitting within idyllic landscape: small stream meandering at her feet, lake and distant mountain in background, two doves on a branch of the tree where she sits, small dog looking worshipfully up at her, roses on the bush beside her. She wears a white bouffant dress whose long sleeves and neckline are adorned with Elizabethan-type flounces. Her slippers are pale blue, as are her elaborately-tied sash and her leaf-like tiara. Her ash-blond hair is curly and fluffy, and she holds a partially-open book which is also pale blue. (Virginia K. Anderson 02/13/95)
