Engraver and publisher; Blois-Paris-London; born in 1688 or 1689; one of the Chéreau family of reproductive engravers that flourished 1680-1794. Younger brother of François I who trained him. Visited England with Dubosc where worked for several years; engraved a portrait of George I after Kneller. After his brother's death stopped engraving in favour of publishing.His successor at the Coq was a publisher named Charpentier.
