Born 1866 etcher wood engraver Jacob Gerard Veldheer was born in 1866 in Haarlem. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art in The Hague. Jacob Veldheer is regarded as one of the most important figures in Dutch Art Nouveau. As well as being a distinguished printmaker, Jacob Veldheer also wrote on art, published a book on Frans Hals and, in 1906, a pioneering study of Art Nouveau. Jacob Gerard Veldheer is known for both etchings and wood engravings.
