Hugh Price
Birth Place:
Hugh Price is primarily known as a wood carver, and for his design of the stalls and pulpit in the Chapel at Lincoln's Inn. Presumably this was the second incarnation of this chapel, which was erected by Inigo Jones between 1620 and 1623. Hugh was known as "Price the Joyner". The chapel underwent extensive rebuilding and restoration following the Great Fire and again in the 19th century. Online research 2013: The original box pews made by Pryce the Joyner are still used in the Chapel. From early 19th c. images, it appears that the high carved finials and lights on the pew corners as seen today were added later. T.Daly
