Charles Frederick Worth was acknowledged as the first great couturier. House founded in 1858. Born in England, he spent most of his career in France. Dressed the Empress Eugenie and other members of court. Partners with Gustave Bobergh early in his career. Suceeded by his sons, Jean-Philippe and Gaston in 1895. When they died in the 1920s, the grandsons, Jacques (who was responsible for the perfumes) and Jean Charles took over. The house was bought and absorbed into the house of Paquin in 1953.
