AU SALON, MONSIEUR RODIN IS MAKING FUN OF US!, eclectic assortment of nineteenth century characters inspecting the Rodin sculpture EVE (1881), heavily joweled old woman stands with striped stockings at back of crowd shocked, pretty mademoiselle with rosy cheeks smirks and hides behind a gaunt, dour faced patron with top hat, bow tie and monocle, bear-like gentleman with top hat, overcoat and red beard folds his arms and looks sideways with disapproval, freckled girl with day hat gazes wide-eyed, stiff matron with plumed headdress holds spectacles primly as she winces at work, young schoolboy by matron’s side holds hands behind his back and squints, sour pout on face.
