Foundation purchase, Phyllis C. Wattis Fund for Major Accessions
A pie chart which satirizes cultural phenomena and current events by using the
statistical world of market research combined with the abstract and indefinable
expressions of art. Against a palette of bright reds, pinks and oranges, behavior that distracts drivers is charted. These include “brainstorming”, shown as
both a light bulb and thought bubble, “tending to children” represented by a
lollipop and pacifier, “fixing a hair”, is illustrated with a comb. Many other activities are represented.
