A group -- family? or workers? -- is gathered at a table, next to a small cast-iron stove with chimney reaching upward. One woman in flat mule slippers irons on the table, while one young man holds up a square piece of cloth. The two other women seem to be working at something, and the other man leans back idly in his chair, his legs comfortably out before him and his hands in his pockets. He has a cheerful look, as though telling a story or singing to the others. Several garments or other pieces of cloth hang from a line stretched across the room. (Virginia K. Anderson 03/20/95)
