German painter, draughtsman, graphic artist and illustrator Fritz Heubner studied at the Munich art college under Julius Diez (1870-1957). Heubner created posters, book illustrations as well as drawings and caricatures for the journals 'Jugend', 'Die Gartenlaube' and 'Simplicissimus'. But he also made landscape paintings and portraits. For a poster for the first exhibition of the German 'Werkbund' in 1914 he got a first prize. From 1914 till 1924 he was - together with other graphic artists - member of the artists' association „Die Sechs“ (also: 'Vereinigung Münchner Plakatkünstler'). From 1940 he was teacher of graphic works of art at an art college in Nuremberg and from 1960 professor at the academy of arts in Munich.
