During 1927-28 Packard lived in Mexico City where she received art criticism from Diego Rivera. She obtained a BA degree from UC Berkeley in 1936 and then studied at the CSFA. After assisting Rivera with his 1650 square foot fresco at the GGIE in 1940, she returned to Mexico City for one year and was a guest in the Rivera home. During WWII she worked as a writer and illustrator for the Richmond (CA) Shipyard newspaper, painting 200 watercolors of shipyard scenes which she exhibited at the Raymond & Raymond Gallery in SF> During the 1950s she executed many graphics for the Matson Navigation Company.
