This uninhabited landscape consists of three horizontal bands of texture. In the foreground is a dark grassy expanse, punctuated by several bushes or clumps of weeds, that stretches to the horizon on the left. Above and beyond this, is the entirely white area of a lake, bay or river with three dark fingers of land that reach into it near the horizon. Above and beyond this is an area of scratched and scumbled interest, neither light nor dark but a mixture of both, the sky perhaps. The utter simplicity of this landscape gives it an almost abstract quality. (Monica Jensen 04/09/93)
