Bequest of Thomas G. Fowler

Magnificent cribbage board with 15 various animal heads including fish, seals, a bird, bears and possibly wolves surmounted on a wooden cribbage board. The board is painted a red ochre color and has 12 ivory game segments inset in the top playing surface. In addition to the 15 animal figures is a kayak with a male figure in it. All the figures are carved walrus ivory and have engraved detail work. The engraving is done in black with all the mouths being done in red. The male figure in the kayak is depicted wearing a bentwood hunting hat. The kayak is the same style as the Nunivak Islanders use.
