Bequest of John Gutmann

A male antelope headpiece (Chi-wara) with horizontal, slightly curving horns, mounted on rectangular base. Elongated neck is partly bandaged with skin. The "Chi-wara" are mounted on basket work caps from which hang fibre capes. They are worn by young men in dances miming the movements of antelopes both male and female. This is an A- says Skip Cole. Is exhibitable -- and equal iin quality to the Loran horizontal chiwara currently on exhibit.
Jim Willis agrees it is excellent quality.
