Dark red silk voided velvet in pomegranate ferronerie design. Orphrey of white silk cut velvet appliqued with red silk velet in s-shaped ribbons held together at the center. Heraldic shields at the bases of the orphrey, front and back. Research source. Possibly from a private chapel. All edges and the orphrey have ornate applique and couched design with remains of burgundy fringe. The border design in positive/negative fleur de lis. The pieces of ferronerie velvet arelarger on the back. Original inventory lists this as 18th century, but many of the bits are older.
