Born in Paris, 1866; d.; J The etcher and illustrator Charles Jouas was born in Paris, the city which was always his favourite subject. He was the President of the gravure section of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. As an etcher he was influenced by Francis Seymour Haden. He was associated with Paul-Adrien Bouroux and André Dauchez in the creation of the bibliophile society La Société de Saint Eloy; others associated with them in this enterprise included Maurice Achener, Edgar Chahine, and Henry Cheffer.
