Scratched letter proof, inscribed in lower margin "after his original painting from a sketch made by him in the year 1804 during a storm between Madagascar and the Cape of Good Hope in which the ship Prince of Wales (indiaman) homeward bound was totally lost. The painting which is 6 feet by 4 feet was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1821"
