Born in Briare (Loiret) in 1867, Camille Fonce studied printmaking with Maxime Lalanne in Paris. In 1885 he exhibited at the Salon and later at the Royal Academy in London (1896, 1897, and 1902). In 1911 he joined the Sté des Graveurs originaux. Today, Fonce is known primarily for his etchings, though he was also a lithographer. He worked after Millet, Corot, Drummond, etc., and also created his own designs.
