These pieces show the second and third stages of the development of this lace. In this collar the pattern is entirely in the tape or cloth stitch varied by parts done in lace stitch and filled with bobbin a jours of wheat ear or woven bars. The grounding of the lace with bobbin woven brides of a coarser thread is the second stage of development. The third stage shows in the cuffs The thread is linen and probably Belgian in the Bertha.
