An incomplete baby carrier (ties missing) consisting of two sections, one larger than the other, stitched along one end the full width of the smaller section; the larger panel extends by the width of its border (about 3") beyond this join. The center panel of both sections is decorated with silk supplementary-weft patterning on an indigo-dyed plain weave ground. The design on both sections consists of repeating geometric forms but the colors and the motifs differ from one panel to the other. The larger panel, which has a loose pleat at the center, is framed on all sides by wide bands of indigo-dyed cotton with embroidered red squares appliqued at each of the lower corners (cross stitch and chain stitch). The rectangle thus formed is framed on three sides by a border consisting of a band of cross-stitch embroidery on a red cotton ground with a band of medium-blue on either side (the pattern on the red bands along the sides of the panel are the same; that at the bottom differs).

The upper panel is backed with indigo-dyed plain weave cotton. The lower, larger panel is unbacked. On the reverse, it is bordered on three sides with a band of red cotton plain weave and a white square embroidered with a star pattern (cross stitch and chain stitch) is appliqued at both corners.

Colors of the patterning weft on the smaller panel are: dark indigo blue or black, medium blue, red-violet, light green, and tan. Colors of the weft patterning of the larger section are dark indigo blue or black, red violet, light green, tan, light tan, light green, and medium blue (along the top border).

Embroidery colors in the red side borders are dark blue, white, violet, and pale pink; in the lower red border and the red appliqued squares they are dark blue, white, violet, pale pink, and pale green
