A red chalk and graphite drawing after a painting by David Teniers the Younger. Two-storey building displays small pennant from window in gable, diamond-paned window above door, huge whetstone in wooden frame in shed on the side, with sickle and some pots. Large pot with spoon rests on stump by door; perhaps this is an eating-house. A woman enters the house; three men, each with a walking-stick, stand in conversation outside the house; a dog waits nearby. Behind several trees is another house, with chimney projecting up at the front and another at the side. Across a stream st ret ches a cluster of houses and a church with cross-topped steeples. A man with a bundle of grain under his arm walks with his stick toward the village; other men stand talking in the distance. (Virginia K. Anderson 03/13/95)
