Published in G. Wooliscroft Rhead, 'History of the Fan, London, 1910, p. 277 and plate opposite p. 2. At that time, the fan had passed from Queen Victoria's collection to Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll. According to Prudence Sutcliffe of the Royal Collection, the fan published in Rhead is no longer held by the Argyll family and is probably the one now in San Francisco. Inquiries to several other public collections(V&A, Museum of London, the Fan Museum) have turned up no other copies of this fan. At some time during the past 30 years the fan passed into the collection of Chrysella Kiler in the US, possibly via a dealer in Boston...(M.Leventon 1991)
