Jesus in a crown of thorns and a cloak stands in a building entrance. An angry contemptuous crowd of townspeople gesture at him. A richly dressed man (Pontius Pilate) shouts a question. A soldier (Saint Longinus, the centurion) watches. A sad boy looks on. The townspeople are clothed in sumptuous gowns and cloaks, caps, feathers, armor, helmets and carry weapons.
