Provenance: ILC on back flyleaf, in ink, in French, in 18th century hand: “Second prix de dessin pour / La Bosse a vienne” (“second prize in drawing for La Bosse in Vienna”). Printed ex libris of Bibliotheca Gounon-Darcieux laid in at front.
Remarks: New methods of etching and engraving discussed in this edition include mezzotint, crayon manner, printing in color, and brush etching (see Avertissement on p. v); the plates include examples of the crayon manner, and possibly brush etching.
