Remarks: lithographs after original drawings by Viscount Hardinge, based on his observations in India in 1845-46. Hardinge was a member of the suite of the Governor General . Note that the Governor-General was also his father, and from the biographical data available, it would seem that the son was a better artist than a soldier.
Title page credits the lithographs to J.D. Harding, but there are several by A. Laby and one by Thomas Fairland.
