Bequest of Thomas G. Fowler

Steel bladed ulu with an ivory handle carved in the form of a seal. The seal figure is finely carved with an engraved geometric design on the back and sides. The engraving work is deep reddish brown - it is documented that nose blood or seal blood was used as pigment. The eyes of the seal are inset with baleen.
