"English documentary copper-plate (possibly roller) print in sepia and red. "Death and Burial of Lord Nelson, January 8, 1806." Subject taken from a series of aquatints by Ackerman... A prototype of the story-telling historical toiles with scenes and events in profusion. Most copper-plates were printed in one color- the red may have been over-printed by block, but appears to be a second copper plate."
From Florence H. Pettit, "America's Printed and Painted Fabrics 1600-1900" (New York: Hastings) 1970.
