Stumpwork picture with detached frame and backing. Previously designated as a box lid, the image is of two men and two women in 17th c. costume. The date of 1660 at the top would indicate that the dark gentleman is King Charles II in the year of the Restoration of the monarchy. With Queen Catharine of Braganza. Beasts and flowers in the corners, castle in background, mermaid center foreground.
