Floral vine border. Two sets of the alphabet in different sizes and one set of numbers. Beneath this is a rural scene with a red schoolhouse, trees and animals. The tree shapes are distinctive to Scottish samplers. "Mrs. Blythe School" - "Romal(n?)o House" - "Sowed in 1844" is embroidered in this scene. A stripe of crowns with English rulers' initials, borders, alphabets are at the bottom. "Margaret Dalrymple Maxwell - Aged 9 Year" is located in the lower right hand corner.
