- Colors: (8) medium red (madder), light orange (synthetic), violet (madder), dark blue, light green, yellow, brown (dyed), undyed white. The light orange in small squares int he outer border and in some floral motifs is a synthetic dye that came onto the market c. 1880, the earliest possible date for this rug. (H. Bohmer, 2003) Not fine enough to be a Shirvan -- if the red in the very small areas of the diagonal border are cochineal, it would indicate that this is a Karabagh (H. Bohmer, 2003)
