Burin engraver and publisher. Carried on the business of his father, François Langlois called F.L.D. Ciartres (1589-1647) from ULAN: Son of the publisher François Langlois. After his father's death, he was legally precluded from entering into partnership with his stepfather, so he set up his own business, 'La Victoire,' in Paris. Like his father, a part of whose stock he recovered, he published many almanacs and illustrated books on architecture, geometry, and mathematics. He also published prints by artists such as Paul Androuet Du Cerceau, Jean Boulanger, Jean Berain the elder, and Jean Le Pautre. He was succeeded in his business by his son, Nicolas Langlois the younger (1670--1707).
