Originally #141 of Sara Spooner gift.
Three loom widths from a bed curtain or hanging plus an additional segment seamed together to form a large rectangle embroidered in silk with a design of large red and small white and orange floral motifs and blue, large leaf motifs defined by a medium blue embroidered edges, and light green vines and small leaves. There are also small white leaf elements in the blue leaves originally embroidered with a metallic yarn consisting of a metal lamella around a white silk core; only small traces of the metal are present. There is some erosion of orange elements and almost complete disappearance of areas originally worked in white silk, indicating that the latter was probably subjected to some sort of bleaching process. The design shows strong Ottoman influence. -DMott-1/2004
