An Eskimo model kayak of classic boat construction, wood ribbing and manhole, with a covering of sealskin. This kayak is from the Nunivak Island area showing front and rear construction regional characteristics. The kayak accommodates a model kayaker, well formed, with a seal intestine parka. This example was formerly in the Connecticut Historical Society collection and was deaccessioned through Skinner's Auction gallery in Bolton, MA. A similar example of this kayak model is in the Heye Foundation Collection with dating in the first quarter of the twentieth century.
