Rectangular cover or hanging of pieced and/or appliqued silk satin in red, light tan, an silver gray satin embroidered with gold metallic yarns in "dival" technique (couching over motifs cut out of paper card) and a finer silver/copper metal yarn in chain stitch. At the center is a large roundel embroidered with the stylized signature (tugra) of an Ottoman sultan, surround, with corner motifs and borders consisting of cartouches containing Arabic calligraphy. Elaborate floral patterns in several types of metal thread fill the interstices between major design elements. The corners of the object are edged with needle lace (igne oyasi) and terminate in silk tassels.
