Franciszek Glaize was possibly German-born. Anna Bennett, in her research into the Zaluski chasuble(1934.3.256) notes that he came from the Dresden workshop of Pierre Mercier(a Protestant refugee from Aubusson after the 1685 Revocation of the Edict of Nantes) to Warsaw, perhaps summoned by Zaluski, who was Bishop of Cracow(ref. Pagaczewski, "Gobeliny polskie").
